本賽季打得相當掙扎的 NBA 金州勇士隊，在 J.Kuminga 表現日漸提升的情況下，陣容也開始做出部分改變。在今日交手布魯克林籃網的比賽中，Stephen Curry 攜手 J.Kuminga 合砍 57 分，幫助勇士終場以 109：98 帶走勝利。不過賽後 Klay Thompson 卻疑似因為關鍵時刻不在場上而於場邊氣氛，對此本人也於訪問中作出回應。

此役，勇士得分上雙的僅有三人，分別為 Curry 29 分、Kuminga 28 分以及 Podziemski 的 15 分，Curry 還在本場比賽中達成史上唯一投進 3600 顆三分球的紀錄，反觀 K 湯全場上陣 29 分鐘，只拿到 8 分 6 籃板，因此關鍵關門時被冰在板凳上。
而身為曾經球隊的二哥，Klay Thompson 賽後對於自己關門時被冰在板凳十分不滿。從影片中能看到比賽結束後，他在場邊念念有詞，表情看來非常火大，一旁的助教趕緊安撫並將他拉開，不過 K 湯依舊邊抱怨邊走回休息室。

Steve Kerr、Klay Thompson 分別回應
賽事記者會上，勇士教頭 Steve Kerr 對於關鍵時刻將 K 湯冰在板凳上的原因，回應道：「如果團隊打的好，你就會留下來。」緊接著，Kerr 還認為 Klay Thompson 面對被冰的情況會堅強並處理得很好。
不過儘管 Steve Kerr 有 K 湯的心理素質十足信心，但 Klay Thompson 卻表示難以接受球隊在關門時將他放在板凳上，他說道：「開玩笑嗎？從最好的球員之一到變成這樣，對誰來說都是難以接受的。」而 Draymond Green 則在一旁大喊：「我之前總冠軍第五戰也沒關門，誰他 X 在乎了。」
