此役首局大都會砲火猛烈 Francisco Lindor 安打、 Brandon Nimmo 獲得保送， Pete Alonso 開轟敲出 3 分砲，一棒打回 3 分打點，讓主場軍首開局面。第3局靠著兩位打者選到保送，又得到得點圈機會， Starling Marte 敲出清壘二壘安打。兩出局後 Francisco Alvarez 、 Lindor 和 Nimmo 連續 3 支安打，又打回 3 分，比分被拉開到 8：0 ，結局也大致底定。
4 局下， Jesse Winker 的三壘安打又打回 1 分，他自己也靠著 Jeff McNeil 的高飛犧牲打回來得分，大都會 10：2 領先。雖然道奇隊打擊表現也不錯，第 9 棒 Andy Pages 單場雙響砲， 4 打數 3 安打，敲回 4 分打點，仍無法挽回敗局。

大谷翔平今天 4 打數 2 安打，選到 1 次保送，他在首局攻佔上三壘時，隊友敲出滾地球卻未跑壘，因此導致該局攻勢瓦解，賽後也遭到總教練 Dave Roberts 批評。
Roberts 表示，當下大谷翔平應該要積極進壘，當時的狀況也是他可以搶分的局面，結果他有點恍神沒動，這局被大都會守下來，也導致對方士氣大振，一定程度的影響了比賽進程。
